Snapchat Story Viewer & Downloader
View and save public Snapchat Stories by username.
How to View Snapchat Stories Without the App
Enter Username
Type the handle with or without the @, or paste a snapchat.com/add/ or snapchat.com/@ profile link.
Play a Snap
Live Story Snaps load first, ahead of Spotlight posts and Highlights; tap play on any video to watch it here.
Save
Tap Save under a Snap to keep it: video Snaps arrive as MP4 files and photo Snaps as JPG images.
What This Snapchat Story Viewer Covers
Lookup by Username
One handle brings back the live Story, Spotlight posts, and saved Highlights together, with no link to hunt down.
Plays on the Page
Watch any video Snap with its sound before deciding whether it is worth saving.
No Name on the List
No Snapchat account takes part, so the poster's Viewers list never gets your name.
Story First
Snaps on a 24-hour clock sit at the top of the result, where they are hardest to miss.
Original Sound Kept
Voiceovers and music come through exactly as posted, with nothing re-recorded.
Any Browser
Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge, on a phone or a computer, with nothing to install.
Type a Snapchat username into the box above, with or without the @, and this Snapchat story viewer loads every Snap that account has live in its public Story right now. Video Snaps play right on this page, and each Snap has its own Save button for keeping a copy as an MP4 or JPG before Snapchat's countdown removes it.
No Snapchat account, login, or app is involved at any point. That is what makes it work as an anonymous Snapchat story viewer: the lookup never runs under anyone's Snapchat account, so there is no name for Snapchat to add to the poster's Viewers list. It only reaches Stories the poster chose to make public.
Why Your Name Never Shows Up in Their Viewers List
Snapchat keeps a list of who opened each Story. Its Help Center describes the list for a public Story as "the friends, followers, and other Snapchatters who viewed your Story". On an ordinary My Story it shows the names of up to 200 viewers, then switches to a plain number.
Every name on that list belongs to a signed-in account. Opening a Story inside the app puts your account there, and so does opening it from a second account you made for the purpose. This Snapchat viewer takes a different route: it reads the account's public web profile, the same page snapchat.com serves to any visitor who isn't signed in. No Snapchat account takes part in the lookup, so there is nothing for the list to record.
One honest limit: Snapchat doesn't say whether a signed-out web visit adds to a Story's total view number, so this page won't promise that the count stays untouched. What is certain is that no username, display name, or Bitmoji of yours reaches the poster, because none is ever sent.
The same fact sets the boundary. Viewing a Snapchat Story anonymously here works only on Stories that are already public. It isn't a way around anyone's privacy settings, and it can't see anything a signed-out visitor to snapchat.com couldn't.
What Loads After You Type a Username
The result arrives as one grid, in a deliberate order. Snaps from the account's live Story come first, because those are the ones on a 24-hour clock. The account's public Spotlight posts follow, then any saved Highlights a Public Profile keeps, and finally the profile photo and the account's Snapcode.
Every video Snap carries a play button. Tap it and the Snap plays in place, with its sound, so you can see what it is before deciding whether to keep it. Photo Snaps show at full size. The Save button under each one downloads that single Snap, and nothing is saved until you tap it.
Large public accounts can return a lot. A creator with a Public Profile and years of saved Highlights may bring back hundreds of Snaps in one lookup, so the live Story sits at the top for a reason: it is the part that disappears soonest.
When the Story Part Is Empty
A lookup that shows Spotlight posts or a profile photo but no Story Snaps means the account has nothing live on its public Story at that moment. It may not have posted today, or its last Snaps have already expired. Spotlight posts and Highlights don't expire after a day, which is why they still appear.
If the profile photo is what you came for, the Snapchat profile picture downloader puts it first in the result instead of last.
Story, Spotlight, and Highlights Are Three Different Things
Because one lookup can return all three, it helps to know which is which:
- Story: the Snaps an account posts through the day. Each one disappears on its own timer, 24 hours by default.
- Spotlight: Snapchat's public feed of short videos. A Spotlight post stays up until the creator removes it, and public profiles list them on their page.
- Highlights: older Story Snaps that a Public Profile saved to its page so they outlast the 24 hours. They stay until the owner takes them down.
Only the Story is time-limited, which is why it's the part people usually come to a Snapchat story downloader for. If you have a link to a single Spotlight video rather than a profile, the Snapchat Spotlight downloader handles that link directly.
Which Stories Can Be Viewed Without an Account
Snapchat lets each poster choose who sees a Story, and only one of those choices reaches a visitor who isn't signed in:
- Friends Only: the default for most personal accounts, limited to mutually accepted friends. Not viewable here.
- Custom: a friends Story with chosen people left out. Not viewable here.
- Private and Shared Stories: seen only by the group the poster invited. Not viewable here.
- Public Story: open to anyone and shown on the account's snapchat.com profile. This is what the viewer loads.
Age matters as well. Under changes Snap announced on 10 June 2026, accounts aged 13 to 15 share their Stories and Spotlight videos with mutually accepted friends only, so nothing they post reaches a public viewer. Accounts aged 16 and 17 get an optional, limited form of public sharing with extra safeguards, and full public profiles are for adults.
In practice, then, the accounts this Snapchat story viewer can show are creators, public figures, brands, and adults who decided to post publicly.
Every Snap Runs on Its Own Clock
A Story looks like one thing, but each Snap in it expires separately, 24 hours after that particular Snap was posted. A Story with a morning Snap and an evening Snap loses the morning one first, while the evening one keeps playing for most of another day.
Snapchat+ subscribers can change the timer per Snap. When Snap launched custom Story expiration in October 2022, the choices were 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 2 days, 3 days, or 1 week. A Snap can therefore vanish sooner than you'd expect, or stay up for days.
Once a Snap expires, it's gone from Snapchat's servers. No Snapchat story viewer can bring it back, this one included, because nothing is cached here. If a Snap matters to you, save it while it's still live.
Username, Display Name, or Link: What to Type
A Snapchat profile shows two names, and only one of them works here. The bold name at the top is the display name: it can contain spaces and emoji, it can be changed at any time, and many accounts share the same one. The handle shown with it, written without spaces, is the username, and that is what the box needs.
Any of these reaches the same profile:
- The username on its own
- The username with an @ in front
- A profile link in the snapchat.com/add/username form that Snapchat's share sheet copies
- A profile address in the snapchat.com/@username form
Shared links often end with extra text after a question mark, such as a share ID or a language code. There's no need to trim it off; the profile loads the same way.
Where Saved Snaps End Up on Each Device
iPhone and iPad, in Safari
- In Snapchat, open the profile and copy the username, or copy the profile link from the share sheet.
- Come back to this page in Safari, enter it in the box, and tap Download.
- Tap play to watch a Snap, then Save under the one you want. Safari puts the file in the Downloads folder of the Files app; open it there and use the share button to move a video or photo into Photos.
Android Phones and Tablets
- Copy the username from the profile in the Snapchat app.
- Come back to this page in Chrome or Samsung Internet and enter it.
- Tap Save under a Snap. It lands in the phone's Downloads folder, and most Gallery apps show it in a Download album straight away.
Windows, Mac, or Chromebook
- Type the handle if you know it, or copy it from the account's profile on snapchat.com.
- Enter it in the box on this page in any browser, such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
- Click play to preview, then Save. Files go to your Downloads folder, and a bigger screen makes a long list of Highlights easier to scan before you pick.
Opening the App, Screen Recording, or This Viewer
There are three common ways to watch someone's public Story, and they leave very different traces:
| Factor | Opening it in Snapchat | Screen recording | This viewer |
| Your name in the Viewers list | Yes | Yes, since the Story has to be opened first | No |
| Snapchat account needed | Yes | Yes | No |
| Works on Friends Only Stories | If you're a friend | If you're a friend | No, public Stories only |
| File you keep | None | A re-encoded capture with your phone's interface in it | The Snap file Snapchat serves, with its original sound |
| Effort per Snap | Tap through | Start and stop by hand | One tap on Save |
The app is still the only way to see Friends Only Stories, as a friend. For public ones, an anonymous Snapchat viewer like this one is the only option of the three that neither needs an account nor adds your name anywhere.
When This Snapchat Viewer Shows Nothing
- Nothing is live right now. The Story expired, or the account hasn't posted today. Spotlight posts and Highlights may still appear.
- The Story isn't public. Friends Only, Custom, Private, and Shared Stories never appear to signed-out visitors.
- It's a teen account. Since June 2026, accounts aged 13 to 15 share with friends only.
- A display name went in instead of the username. Check the handle, not the bold name.
- The username changed. A handle copied from an old message may no longer belong to that account.
If a saved video Snap has no sound, it was recorded or posted silent. The original audio track is passed through as it is; nothing is removed or added.
Who Reaches for a Snapchat Story Viewer
- People without Snapchat. Someone shares a public account and you'd rather not install the app or create an account just to look.
- Marketers and researchers. A brand's or creator's public Story often needs keeping as an actual file, for a report or a record, before the 24 hours run out.
- Fans of public creators. Watching a creator's public Story without becoming one more name on a list of thousands, and saving the Snaps worth keeping.
- Creators checking their own page. Seeing exactly what a signed-out visitor sees on your public profile, and saving your own public Snaps to a computer.
Recent Changes to This Snapchat Viewer
Snapchat reshapes its profile pages from time to time, so the viewer gets regular upkeep. The latest changes:
Type a Username, No Link Needed
- Enter a Snapchat username, with or without the @, to load that account's public Story Snaps, Spotlight posts, and saved Highlights in one go.
- Video Snaps now play right on the page, so you can watch one before saving it.
- Profile links keep working exactly as before.
snapchat.com/add/ Profile Links Load Properly
- Profile links in the snapchat.com/add/username form now load the same way as snapchat.com/@username addresses.
Direct Highlight Links
- A link to a single saved Highlight now loads its Snaps.
- Photo Snaps are no longer labeled as having sound.
share.snapchat.com Links
- Links copied from Snapchat's share sheet in the share.snapchat.com form now load their Snaps.
Who Owns a Saved Snap
Saving a public Snap doesn't change who owns it. The video, photo, caption, and any music in it belong to the person who posted them. Keeping a copy for personal reference is generally reasonable; reposting someone's Story as your own, or using it commercially, needs their permission.
GetinDevice does not host or store any Snapchat media. Each Snap is fetched when you ask for it and delivered straight to your browser. GetinDevice is not affiliated with or endorsed by Snap Inc.; Snapchat is a trademark of Snap Inc.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I view Snapchat Stories anonymously?▼
Type the account's username into the box at the top of this page and tap Download. The public Story loads without any Snapchat account, so there's no name for Snapchat to add to the poster's Viewers list. It works on public Stories only.
Will someone know I viewed their Snapchat Story here?▼
Your name won't appear in their Viewers list, because the lookup reads the public web profile without signing in to any account. Snapchat doesn't say whether signed-out web visits add to a Story's total view number, so this page doesn't promise the count stays the same.
Do I need a Snapchat account or the app?▼
No. This Snapchat story viewer runs in your browser and needs no account, login, or app. You only need the account's username or profile link.
Can I watch a Snap here without downloading it?▼
Yes. Every video Snap has a play button and plays on this page with its sound. Nothing is saved to your device unless you tap Save under that Snap.
Can I view a private or Friends Only Snapchat Story?▼
No. Friends Only, Custom, Private, and Shared Stories are visible only to people the poster allowed, and none of them appear to a signed-out visitor. This viewer shows public Stories only.
Why does the Story show nothing when the account posts every day?▼
Usually the latest Snaps have already expired, or that day's Story was posted to friends only. Accounts aged 13 to 15 also share with friends only since June 2026. Check that you typed the username, not the display name.
Does it show Spotlight videos and Highlights too?▼
Yes. After the live Story Snaps, the result lists the account's public Spotlight posts and any saved Highlights its Public Profile keeps, followed by the profile photo and Snapcode.
Can I see a Snapchat Story after it expires?▼
No. An expired Snap is removed from Snapchat's servers and nothing is cached here. Only Snaps the owner saved as Highlights on a Public Profile stay viewable.
How long does a Snapchat Story stay up?▼
Each Snap lasts 24 hours from when it was posted. Snapchat+ subscribers can set a different timer per Snap, from 1 hour up to 1 week.
What should I type: the username or the display name?▼
The username. The display name is the bold name on a profile and isn't unique. The username works with or without the @, and full snapchat.com/add/ or snapchat.com/@ links work too.
Can I download Snapchat Stories by username?▼
Yes. Enter the username, and each live Snap in the public Story gets its own Save button. Video Snaps save as MP4 files and photo Snaps as JPG images.
Do saved video Snaps keep their sound?▼
Yes, if the Snap had sound when it was posted. The original audio track comes through unchanged; a Snap posted silent saves silent.
Does this Snapchat viewer work on iPhone and Android?▼
Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox, and Edge on phones, tablets, and computers. On iPhone, saved files land in the Downloads folder of the Files app.
Can I see who viewed my own Snapchat Story with this?▼
No. Only Snapchat shows that, in the Viewers list of your own Story inside the app. This viewer never signs in to any account, including yours.
Is it legal to save someone's public Snapchat Story?▼
Keeping a copy of public content for personal reference is generally reasonable. The Snaps still belong to the person who posted them, so reposting or commercial use needs their permission.
How long does a username lookup take?▼
Usually a few seconds. Accounts with many saved Highlights can take a little longer, because every Snap on the profile is listed.
Why do I see a profile photo and a Snapcode at the end?▼
They come with every profile lookup. The profile photo is the account's picture, or its Bitmoji for personal accounts, and the Snapcode is the scannable code that adds the account in Snapchat. Both can be saved like any Snap.
