Fix Invalid Link, Expired Link and Download Errors

Quick answer: Most Snapchat downloader errors come from the link, not the tool. Copy a fresh link with Share, then Copy Link, inside Snapchat. Paste it into the Snapchat Downloader right away, and make sure the content is public and still live. If it still fails, find your error in the table below.

Start Here: 3 Checks That Fix Most Errors

  1. Copy a fresh link. Use Share, then Copy Link, inside the Snapchat app. A link taken from a chat, a notification or an old note is the most common cause of failure.

  2. Paste it straight away. Snapchat links can stop working after a while, so do not save them for later.

  3. Open the link in a browser tab. If the video loads, the content is live and the problem is on the tool or browser side. If you see an error page, the content is gone.

Which Snapchat Links Work in a Downloader?

Not every Snapchat link points to a public video. Check yours against this table.

    Link type
What it looks like
Where it comes from
Works in a downloader?

    Spotlight link
snapchat.com/spotlight/...

Spotlight video, Share, Copy Link
Yes, if public

How to Check If a Snapchat Link Is Public

A two-minute test saves a lot of guessing:

    1. Copy the link from Snapchat (Share, then Copy Link).

    2. Open a private or incognito browser window.

    3. Paste the link into the address bar and press Enter.

    4. If the Spotlight video or Story plays, the content is public and live, so the downloader should be able to reach it.

    5. If you see an unavailable message, an error, or a request to log in, treat the content as private or removed. No downloader can save it.

Why These Snapchat Downloader Errors Happen

      Invalid link

A downloader reads the public address of a Spotlight video or Story. A link from a chat, a DM or a private account does not point to a public page, and a half-copied link is missing part of the address. A fresh link from Share, then Copy Link, solves both.

      Video not found

Public Stories are removed after about 24 hours, and creators can delete a Spotlight video at any time. Once Snapchat takes the page down, there is nothing left for a downloader to fetch, so the tool cannot bring it back.

It worked earlier but fails now

Snapchat links can stop working after some time. A link saved in your notes or chat history may already be dead. Copy a fresh link each time you download.

      The Download button does nothing

This is usually the browser, not the link. A pop-up blocker, an ad blocker, or an in-app browser (a page opened inside another app) can stop the file from starting. Open the downloader directly in Chrome or Safari and allow downloads for the page.

How to Copy the Right Snapchat Link

On the Snapchat app (iPhone and Android)

      1. Open the Spotlight video or public Story.

      2. Tap the Share arrow.

      3. Tap Copy Link. Do not use Send To or a chat share.

      4. Open the downloader and paste the link.

        On a computer

Open the public Spotlight or Story page in your browser and copy the address from the address bar. Check that it starts with a Snapchat address before you paste it.
